Fake C.S.A. Notes

A counterfeit CSA note is a note that was used in the civil war and the goal of its creator was to pass it off as genuine money. A fake note is defined as a note that was created AFTER the civil war. It might also be called a replica, facsimile, or reproduction.

$1,000 Notes

This is a picture of a Fake $1,000 CSA note. This is the most popular fake CSA note. The serial # is 297.

This is a picture of another Fake $1,000 CSA note. The serial # is 176.

This is a picture of another Fake $1,000 CSA note. The serial # is 46. It is from Set "A" of the very common 4 set series of Confederate Currency available at nearly any battlefield visitor's center. The price for each set of 6 - 7 notes is around $1.50.

$500 Notes

[Picture of a Fake CSA Note]

This is a picture of a Fake 1864 CSA $500 note. In fact, it is a copy of a real note but printed entirely in black on a brown (so-called) parchment paper. This note is very common. The serial # is 16760. The more obvious clues are that the red overprint is missing and the serial number and signatures are printed.

This is a picture of another Fake 1864 CSA $500 note. This too, is a copy of a real note. The serial # is 26949.On this one, they even tried to match the colors. However, the serial number and signatures are also printed. The printing is also not clear. Poor old Stonewall Jackson's picture is also a bit muddy. The printer of this note also printed the word "Facsimile", but other examples are missing this.

$100 Notes

This is a picture of a Fake 1862 CSA $100 note. This too, is a copy of a real note. The serial # is 65798 but it may look like 65178. It is too orange and the serial number and signatures are also printed. The printing is also not clear. The printer of this note also printed the word "Facsimile" on the back lower left, but other examples are missing this. Beware, this one has been for sale at many of the on line auctions.
